In Loving Memory of Michael Washington

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Michael Washington, who left us on January 23, 2025, at the age of 43. A devoted husband, father, son, passionate preacher, and dedicated Freemason member, Michael touched countless lives with his unwavering love and steadfast commitment to his family and community.

Michael embodied the true spirit of kindness and generosity from a young age. He balanced his life for his loved ones, career, and faith, leaving space for his Masonic brothers and sisters.

Born on March 25, 1981, in Illinois to Melvin and Catherine Washington, he was the second of two children, raised with his sister Nancy Washington. Michael met his wife, Laguina, and they were married on July 10, 2004. With this union, they were blessed with one child, Makyli, and two grandchildren, Kai'lani Denise and Michael Lee.

Michael was an internal investigator at TJX and a devoted pastor at True Faith Missionary Baptist Church. He enriched his life with many hobbies, such as playing practical jokes on family and friends, and being a proud member of the Masonic Lodge, Springfield Lodge #4. As a proud Mason, Michael dedicated much of his time to the Masonic community, serving as a Right Worshipful Brother. He was a member of several Masonic organizations and bodies, including the Scottish Rite, Shrine, and Lalla Rookh Chapter #218 OES.

While we mourn the loss of our beloved Michael, we also celebrate the life he lived with purpose and passion. He leaves behind his wonderful wife of 21 years, Laguina Washington; one daughter Makyli, two grandchildren, Kai'lani Denise and Michael Lee; one sister, Nancy; Johnnetta; mother, Catherine Washington; mother-in-law, Arnetta Mayfield; father-in-law, Jonathan (Sabrina) Mayfield; Jessica, Crystal, Jaden Tucker, Darren Sanders, Joneise Mayfield, Tierra (Ramone) Hunter, Lavellanie Burks, Lamieor Billings, Zachariah Smith, Andrianna (Michael) Smith, Leonard Howard, Austin Howard, and a host of cousins and friends.

Michael is preceded in death by his father, Melvin Washington; sister-in-law, Kizzy (Lavell) Burks; grandparents, Lorene and Mandess Howard Sr., Theresa (Joe) Jenkins, Randolph and Pearl Howard, Tyrone Howard, Angela Petty, Earnestine Robinson, Barbra Hutchinson, Mandess Howard II, Connie Earl Howard, Velma Howard, Shirley Howard, Lindell Howard, and Florence Howard.
