Michael A. Davis

Michael Angelo Davis was born on April 24, 1969, in Chicago, Illinois to Maynard and Shirley Davis. He was the fourth of six children. Charismatic, fiercely independent, and funny—Michael had the ability to light up every room he entered. As a child he enjoyed playing board games and cards. You could always catch him on the softball field. His love of sports and card games followed him into adulthood, he was a huge fan of the NBA, NFL, and poker. Michael had impeccable style and taste; he was always dressed to impress—no matter the occasion.

Michael built a long career in the restaurant and hospitality industry; he worked as a waiter and bar tender at several restaurants in Chicago and the North Shore for more than 20 years. He loved any opportunity to connect with people, he had truly found his calling. During his time living in Rogers Park, he built a very special community of friends. We often called him the "Mayor of Rogers Park" because everyone knew him.

On Father's Day in 2013, he was brutally attacked with a baseball bat by two men. His injuries were severe, and his future was very uncertain. Being the fighter that he was, Michael never gave up. He learned how to walk and talk all over again. He spent several months in the hospital, inspiring everyone around him. Sadly, after his attack he was unable to work in the industry he loved. In the summer of 2017, he bravely testified in court against one of the men who attacked him. He was never bitter, just determined to be a strong, healthy version of himself.

He leaves to cherish his memory, one sister Linda (Joseph) Webb, two brothers Anthony (Tamara) Davis and Maynard Davis, nieces Alicia Webb, Aniyah Davis and nephews Anthony Davis Jr., D'Andre Davis, Ethan and Xavier.

Preceding him in death are his parents Maynard and Shirley Davis and his siblings, Patricia Brown, and Andre Davis.
