Kian Demetrioce Amir'e Holmes, age 9, of Waukegan passed away suddenly on March 13, 2023 at Ingles Memorial Hospital, Harvey, Illinois. He was born on Monday, August 26, 2013 at Vista East Memorial Hospital in Waukegan to Kiani Gray and Shirul Holmes at 12:13pm. Kian was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, which means the left ventricles of his heart was underdeveloped. Kian was considered a Norwoood Baby and had 3 heart surgeries ( Norwood, Glen, and the Hemi Fontan Procedures), 2 cardiac arrests, and was twice on Ecmo, before 10 months old. Kian's Doctors said he would not live to see 1 year old. We knew that being a Norwood baby, eventually his body would grow to be too big for his heart, and by not being a candidate for a heart transplant, eventually his heart would stop working for him. However, God is so good, he had a better plan for Kian, and Kian lived to see 9 years old. Kian accomplished many milestones in his 9 years. Kian attended McArthur Elementary School in South Holland, IL, where he loved arts and crafts. His favorite song was This Little Light of Mine. Kian loved to watch TV, and it was amazing that he could identify all of the channels. Although Autistic, Kian was super smart. Kian also enjoyed attending Sunday school. Kian loved to playdates with his Mommy at Mc Donald's playhouse, going to the movies, and playing on the big toys at the park. He loved his mothers cream colored sweater, it always brought him comfort. Kian, referred to as Braveheart by his grandmother, truly was the bravest little boy we have ever met.

Kian leaves to cherish his loving memory his mother Kiani ( Rasheed) Bennett, his father Shirul Holmes, his 3 sisters: Sa' Riyah Bennett(4), Za' Raiyah Bennett(4), Samaria Holmes(6), Saniyah Holmes(4), and a brother Shamir Holmes(5)., Aunties: Da'Myrica Moore, Ni'Myah Jones, Katrina Gray, Patricia Holmes and Kwanna Nesbitt Uncles: Rickey Gray Jr., Jon Allen, Dirul Holmes and Dushae Nesbitt., His maternal grandparents Rickey Gray Sr and Nikkia (Melvin) Moore DeVost. He also leaves to cherish his memory a host of cousins, Great Aunts and Uncles, and his Great Grand Parents Lillie (Jessie) Orsby, Barbara (Bryan) Anderson Barnett and RickeyDean Gray. He is preceded in death by his Paternal grandparents Tommie Lee Holmes and Susan Brown, His uncle Malik Boyd, Lamarcus Conley, Great Uncles Desni Gray, Artice Moore, Jessie Orsby. Also his Great Grandfather Wilbert Moore and his Great Grandmother Bernice Nesbitt.
