Obituary

Jamel Darnell Henton was born Tuesday, August 28,2001 in Chicago, Illinois to Aisha Jenkins. He was the youngest child and only boy.

Jamel's first 7 years of his life he grew up in the Englewood community in Chicago, where he attended Nicholson and Graham Elementary Schools. Jamel attended Gemini Middle School in Niles, IL and graduated from Evanston Township High School during the Pandemic Class of 2020.

Jamel had a smile that would brighten up every room he entered. He was such a caring child who always put others before himself. Caring for others became first nature to Jamel. Since he was a toddler Jamel had a love for all animals big and small and had many pets growing up.

Jamel has been playing video games since he was an toddler. As he got older and became more competitive, he competed in Nationwide Video Game Tournaments. Jamel found out that he had a talent, and he not only competed on a global scale but winning these tournaments he decided that this was his calling. Jamel made plans to enroll in classes at Oakton Community College in Video Game Animation

Jamel worked at Potbelly Sandwich Works where he was loved and adored by all his Team Members.

Jamel was taken from us suddenly and unexpectedly while trying to prevent two complete strangers from getting hurt or worse. On February 08, 2023, the news media called him a "Good Samaritan" for his selfless act. To his family and friends, he will always remain "OUR HERO".
