Helen Jean Ford was born November 30, 1951 to Arthur Lee Miller and Josie Mae Williams. She was affectionately known as "Mama Helen" by her church family and friends. Helen attended Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture and Debbie's School of Beauty Culture. Helen was a hair stylist and cosmetologist known for growing hair for well over 30 years; a career that provided for her and her family. She leaves behind a legacy that is rich in showing how she loved, valued and cared for people no matter who they were and where they came from. Helen was a soul winner for Jesus Christ and her hope was that all those that she came into contact with would experience a greater future in knowing her Savior Jesus Christ. Helen loved Her son's, children, grandchildren, and family. She loved cooking, fashion and doing hair. Helen will be deeply missed. Helen departed this life early Thursday morning April 6, 2023 at home. Helen loved to sing. For many years Helen was a member of Monument of Faith Church under the leadership of Apostle R.D. Henton where she sang for President Jimmy Carter. She later became a faithful singer and worship leader at Outreach Community Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Shawn C. Woodie. Helen presently gave her efforts toward singing on Sunday mornings, in addition to, soul winning, providing prayer and encouragement and counseling to her youngest son Eldridge Sheron Ford who is the Shepherd over the church planted, Global Evangelistic Ministries. Helen was a people person able to talk to everyone and made them feel like family. She was generous, graceful and courageously honest. In her final days she made known the joy of having her daughter-in-law Bridget, her appreciation of the help of her grandson Iman, and the trust in her son's words to take care of the family and her gratitude for Corra Hailey, her childhood friend and sister who never left her side.
Though her biological sisters have passed on she left behind a host of undeniable sisters that shared with her the bond of sisterhood. Louella, Brenda, Sandra, and Juanita to name a few and a host of spiritual sons and daughters who know who they are. Helen leaves to cherish her memories, Children: Eldridge and wife Bridget Ford Grandchildren: Iman, Shekinah, Ethan, Isaiah, Shamika, Rebecca and Elijah; Great grandchildren: Kamaria, Serenity, Isaiah Jr, Arya; Aunts: Wilda, and Hilda; Nieces and Nephews: Zakiyah, Rasheed, Nina, Josie, Tariq, Nathaniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Cousins : Tirrell, Fadeke, Peter, Liz, Felicia, Patrick, Sonja, Chris, Gregory, and a host of friends and family.
