Evan Ronald
Beecher Jr.
Sep 22, 1947 — Aug 18, 2023
Evan Ronald (Ron) Beecher Jr. was born in Newark, New Jersey on September 22, 1947. He passed away from injuries as a result of a car accident on Friday, August 18, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents Evan and Katharine Beecher (née White).
Ron is survived by his partner of 22 years, John Sagos, as well as his four children Henry (Duke) Beecher (Gaby Porta Beecher), Olivia Beecher Riddiford (David Riddiford), Lucy Beecher Nelson (Brad Nelson), and Daisy Straus (John Straus), from his ex-wife, Lee; his seven grandchildren, Lili Beecher, Charlotte Beecher, James Riddiford, Tatum Nelson, Olive Nelson, Emma Straus, and Ben Straus; and his two sisters Katy Canaday and Midge Beecher.
Originally from Red Bank, NJ, Ron moved with his family forty years ago to Chicago. He attended Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. Spending the majority of his career in finance, Ron pursued his passions outside of work. He was a trained chef, he acted in commercials and indie films, he was a vintage car enthusiast, a writer, a caner and restorer of antique chairs, he loved all sorts of music ranging from classical to banjo orchestras to 80's pop, and loved watching British crime dramas. Ron lived a full and creative life and surrounded himself with beauty. His greatest loves were his four children and seven grandchildren. He traveled east, whenever he could, to spend time with them.
Ron was a kind man known for his big heart, a bigger appetite, a great sense of humor, an appreciation for the arts, and love for his family and friends. He was surrounded by his partner and children as he transitioned from this lifetime onto the next. He will be truly missed.
