Edward Elie Tatum Life Journey

Edward (Eddy) Elie Tatum, 61, of Racine, Wisconsin, was born on January 26, 1963, in Evanston, Illinois.  He was the beloved second child of Edward Elie Tatum, Sr., and Minnie Mae Love-Tatum.  On Friday, May 17, 2024, Edward peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unforgettable memories.

Edward was a cherished son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle,and friend.  His journey began in the vibrant town of Evanston, where he attended the public-school systems of District 65 and 202.  He started his career with the Village of Skokie in the Sanitation Department in 1985, a role that reflected his dedication to serving his community.  From a young age, Edward found solace and faith in God through Springfield Missionary Baptist Church, where he embraced the Lord's guidance and love.

Edward's life was rich with passions and hobbies that brought joy to those around him.  He found freedom and adventure in life, especially riding his motorcycle, a pastime that mirrored his spirited and free-spirted nature.  He cherished every moment spent with his family, especially those heartfelt conversations with his son, nephews, and the countless gatherings with his loved ones.  Edward's home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and boundless love.

Edward's loves of his life were undoubtedly his family, with a special place in his heart for his mother, Minnie and his son,Edward Elie Tatum, III.  He was a devoted father and a doting grandfather, his face lighting up with pride and joy at the mention of his grandchildren names, Edward Elie Tatum, IV, and Danaya Cantrell.

Edward departure leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his spirit and the love he shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.  He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Elie Tatum, Sr.; his stepfather Bill Ralph Hughley, Sr.; his grandmothers, Johnnie Anderson, and Minnie Gary; his aunts, Margaret Watkins, Earlie Mae Barnes, Francis Hatfieldand Elizabeth Black; his uncles, Roger Black, Walter Perrin and William Joe Love; along with many other cherished family members and friends.

Edward's memory will be treasured by his mother, Minnie Tatum-Hughley, his beloved son, Edward Elie (Dunnesha) Tatum, III; his sister, Valerie (Curtis) Wideman, his brother Billy Ralph Hughley, Jr.; his grandson, Edward Elie Tatum, IV, his granddaughter, Danaya Cantrell, his nephews, Kyle Wideman, Curtis Wideman and Galvin Hughley.  He also leaves behind a very special friend, Yolanda Teneyuaue, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other family members who will continue to celebrate his life and the beautiful moments they shared.

Edward's Elie Tatum's, Jr., life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy of togetherness.  Though he has left this world, his spirit will continue to guide an inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.  May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love he so generous gave.
