Obituary

Colette was born on August 13th, 1991, to Charlotte Curry-Gayle & Devon A. McKenzie in Evanston, IL. Colette was Devon's little 'Treasure'. Colette was a true daddy's girl. In his eyes she did no wrong and vice versa.
At a young age, Colette was educated in the Evanston District 65 public school system. She graduated from Nichols Middle Schools. She attended Niles North in Skokie, IL, but went on to earn her high school diploma through the Second Chance Program in Chicago, IL. Colette accepted Christ at an early age and was a member for Second Baptist Church in Evanston, IL. Prior to her passing, Colette was working on obtaining her CDL to begin her own trucking business. She had big dreams.

Growing up, Colette was a fun-loving and outgoing child who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Colette was unique in her own little way. She was always cracking jokes and doing anything that would put a smile on everyone's face. Her smile was very infectious and lit up every room she entered.

Colette was a great mother to her three children, Chasidy, Brooklyn, and Caleb. They were her pride and joy. Everything she did was for them. Colette loved to cook. She was a chef always making meals from scratch. Colette was a jack of all trades and determined to create generational
wealth for her children.

Colette was a kind and caring woman, who gave the best hugs and always had time for people, no matter what was going on in her day. She was very giving and would give her last to those in need.

Colette passed away on February 26th, 2023, at the age of 31. She leaves to cherish her memory, her three children, Chasidy, Brooklyn, and Caleb; her parents, Charlotte and Devon; her siblings, Chantay, Kemelia, Rochelle, Devon, Joseph, Latrell, Steven, Matthew and Romario. Colette will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and the love she shared will continue to live on in our memories forever. As Colette often said, "there's a rainbow to every storm".
