Carolyn Burks-Washington was born on January 10, 1948, in Evanston, Illinois, to Edward and Amy Burks.

Raised in a close-knit family surrounded by loving aunts, uncles, and cousins, Carolyn's early years were filled with joy, faith, and community.

She attended Evanston public schools and graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1966. Carolyn's life was deeply rooted in her faith, nurtured from childhood through her family's active involvement in church. She remained a devoted member of Mt. Zion.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her only brother Robert, and her husband Stanley Washington. Though she experienced profound loss, she carried herself with grace and resilience.

Carolyn helped raise her young niece, Laura Jones, who remained with her and devoted herself to caring for her loving TeeTee.

Known for her radiant smile and kind spirit, Carolyn was a cherished member of her community. Her warmth, loyalty, and friendliness left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Whether greeting neighbors or supporting friends, Carolyn's presence was a source of comfort and joy.

Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
