The Life of Annie Jeanette Rolls

Annie Jeanette Rolls was called home to glory on April 6, 2026, to a mansion prepared by Christ especially for her.
Annie Jeanette Rolls was born to begin her earthly life on April 14, 1946, in Evanston, Illinois.
Her parents Sanford and Helena Perry raised her to be the loving, caring and kind person we all knew and loved. Annie affectionately called "Rosebud" by many, attended Evanston public schools and graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1964.

Annie attended Prairie State College in Illinois where she received her associate degree in early childhood education. She applied her natural instincts as a mother with the education she received from school to her employment at Evanston's head start program for over 30 years. Families cherished and knew her as the bus attendant, teacher assistant and parent coordinator. She also shared her love for children and families through the Evanston Family Focus program, "Partners". She advised and assisted teenage mothers in rearing and guiding their young children. Once retired, because of her continued passion for children and families, Annie became a caretaker for three different families. Her longest tenure was with the Marshall boys. At the time the oldest was a year old and she remained with them through the birth of their next two sons. The young family loved Annie so much they insisted that she accompany them on numerous vacations including an excursion to Hawaii. All three are young men now and reminisce of their time spent with their Nanny, Annie.

Annie began attending Faith Temple as a little girl with her mother, Helena. At that time Bishop Carlis L Moody, Sr. was her Pastor. As she grew in the Lord, she involved herself in the auxiliaries of the church and was active in YWCC (Young Women's Christian Council) and in her latter years the Wise and Wonderful group. Even though Annie loved to sing and act she never joined the choir, but she was a founding member of JUMA Productions (Jesus Using Me through the Arts) the production company started by Sister June Marie McClain. Annie put her acting skills to stellar use as she held many memorable roles in these stage plays.

Throughout her life "Rosebud" was known round and about the Evanston community for her vivacious spirit, her love for people and the sunshine that she brought into every room. As a native Evanstonian, she knew everyone and was fondly called "The Mayor of Evanston." She was the secretary of the Foster Senior Club for years, keeping the records until her health started declining. Annie was a member of the Grandparent's Club, because she raised her granddaughter full time since she was 10 years of age until present .

Annie was civic minded and served as a volunteer throughout Evanston. One of her favorite places to give her time was the Evanston Public Library. She also enjoyed being a Cuddler, rocking babies at The Cradle.

Annie loved children especially her own. This is her legacy, who celebrates her life, yet mourns her passing; Dwain (Annette) of Zion, Illinois; Michael of Evanston, IL; Kiley of Englewood, California and a gift daughter DeMitta Jo "Mia" Williams. She leaves six grandchildren: Dwain Jr. (Rosa), Darrel, Andrea, Kiley Jr., Kaleigh and a gift granddaughter Dana Hill.  She was blessed to see three great grandchildren Davion, Dwain III and Deidrick "DJ". She leaves to cherish her memory a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends. She will always remain dear in the hearts of her closest friends Noreen Crawford, Tammy Norris, "The Girlz" (who called her Anniekins) and her
beloved Faith Temple Church of God in Christ family. Her parents Sanford and Helena, sister, Pauline, brothers, Sonny and Joe have preceded her in death.
